I stayed here in mid-October, 2007, for three nights. I was in town on business.
Things I liked about the Affinia
- great central location
- very friendly staff
- beautiful lobby
- little kitchenette in my room, so I could bring back extra NYC pizza and microwave it later
- really large room, maybe the biggest hotel room I've ever stayed in (see below, however)
- very reasonable room service food prices
Things I didn't like about the Affinia
- smallest bathroom I've ever seen; I'm guessing they crammed a sink, toilet, and walk-in shower into a space about 8 feet long by 4 feet wide
- it's an old, old building (1927) and the rooms reflect that; it really needs to be modernized
- it's right near a fire house, so you have noise issues
I would consider staying here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice in the area.

I stumbled on this little restaurant while walking along 7th Avenue back to the hotel. My friend and I were in the mood for some authentic NYC pizza, and we're both glad we stopped here. Simple meal -- just a large pepperoni pizza and a couple sodas. Good dinner. Not the most amazing pizza I've ever had, but just what I expected from a NYC pizza pie. Nice people working there. Two thumbs up.

Wow, the garlic fries are STRONG! But pretty darn good, too.
This is typical GB, if you've been to one, you've been to them all.
My only suggestion is not to ask for separate checks if you're part of a large group. We had 12 adults and our waiter first refused to do separate checks. When he brought out the full check, it was wrong ... so we convinced him to do separate checks, thinking it would be easier. He came back out with 4 checks and had randomly put various food on each check. My food and drink were on different checks!!
So we decided to write out what we ordered and give it to him so he could fix the separate checks. My meal came to $13, so I wrote own what I ordered and gave him a $20. Even with the automatic 18% gratuity, my total was less than $16. He came back with my receipt, but didn't bring me any change!
All this had taken 45 minutes to sort out and we were all frustrated, so I was willing to pay the extra $4 just for the privilege of walking out the door. Yikes... what a night.

San Jose Hilton and Towers Hotel

I just wrapped up a 5-night stay here in conjunction with a conference at the convention center. So, obviously, the hotel gets points for its location. The Hilton staff was friendly overall, in particular the bellhops.
I had a room with two double beds, and it was a fairly tight fit. But the desk was plenty big for my laptop and other work-related stuff, so that was cool.
The room overall, and the bathroom especially, just seemed a bit old and dated. The shower was TOO STRONG, believe it or not. I've stayed at two other Hiltons this year, and both had new shower heads which were perfect. This hotel still had an old water massage-style shower head, but the stream of water was too strong and trying to weaken it didn't work.
Overall, not as nice as other Hiltons I've stayed in. Nothing terribly good or bad about this hotel. I might stay here again, but I'll also consider trying some of the other hotels nearby.

Ristorante Spiedo

Our group of 10 adults and one infant showed up unannounced on a quiet Wednesday night, and we were seated promptly. The staff was very kind and helpful, and service was excellent.
The facility is pretty nice, classy, and in a great location.
I ordered the Canneloni, which was good but not great. I dare say it was similar to Olive Garden canneloni, but the sauces were better at Spiedo. Others in my party who ordered seafood & pasta dishes raved about their meals.
I'm a bit surprised at the comments in other reviews about prices being high. Most dishes were in the $10-$16 range, which seems quite inexpensive for a downtown restaurant aiming at a somewhat upscale atmosphere. The steak place nearby was asking $30 for most entrees, which sealed our decision to go Italian.
You bet I'd eat here again.....

Tri-Cities Battery & Auto Repair Inc

First, this business has a new address:
2170 Jericho Rd, Richland, WA, 99352
The address listed above (George Washington Way) is their old location.
Okay, we've been taking our cars to Tri-Cities Battery for 10+ years now and have always received good service at a fair price. They get busy sometimes, which is a sign of their good work, but they always make an effort to get your car in the shop as quickly as possible.
The work they do is top-notch, and they're always up front and honest about what's wrong and what needs to be done. Several years ago, my car wasn't running well and I was convinced I needed a new clutch. They drove it around a bit and said the clutch was fine -- they turned down an $800 job. Turns out I just needed to use a different brand of gas to get the car to stop driving so sluggishly.
Anyway, I highly recommend TC Battery for your car service needs.

This hotel is part of the Marriott family, so you know what you're getting to some degree. And I generally like Marriotts, so no surprise that I liked this hotel.
The staff was friendly, and the facility was very clean -- nicely appointed, too. I had a double-queen room, and it was HUGE. One of the larger hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. Bed was comfortable, bathroom and shower was fine -- standard Marriott.
Only negatives were two minor points: the iron in my room was old and beat up a bit (but it did work just fine). And there was no wireless in the room; you had to request an ethernet cable from the front desk. (Huh?!)
Actually, I didn't have to request a cable because I travel with one, but if you don't have one, you have to ask.
The hotel is right off the airport grounds, and you can hear the jets taking off -- but not so loudly that it bothered me or kept me from sleeping. Oh, there's an adult "boutique" across the street from the hotel, too, if that matters to you. But it's still a nice property overall.

I'd prefer to give this a 3.5 stars, but I can't....
Nice place, good atmosphere, and in a nice area of stores, restaurants, etc. My experience was similar to the previous reviewer -- spotty service, good salad, and I'd add good food overall.
The waitress got one of the orders wrong -- she brought out a salad for one person in our group who had wanted soup instead. Oh, well. The salad is good. Food was also good, but not sensational.
Still, our group of five ate lunch for just over $50, so I'd say you're getting a good meal for a good price. I'd go back if I'm in STL again.

Best restaurant cold sandwiches I've ever had.
I've had lunch twice from Jimmy John's in Bellevue, both times having them delivered to an office. So I can't comment about the location, atmosphere, staff, etc. All I can say is that the bread is to die for, the sandwich is big, the fixins are fresh and cold, and it's delicious. I'll be eating JJ's many more times.......

Our waiter was excellent, and everyone we came in contact with (on the staff) was quite friendly.
And yes, the view is wonderful.
I'd definitely eat here again, and order another steak. :-)
